How to play Sudoku
The goal of Sudoku is to fill in a 9×9 grid with digits so that each column, row, and 3×3 section contain the numbers between 1 to 9. At the beginning of the game, the 9×9 grid will have some of the squares filled in. Your job is to use logic to fill in the missing digits and complete the grid. Larger grids are also possible, or different irregular shapes (under various names such as Suguru, Tectonic, Jigsaw Sudoku etc.). The Times offers a 12×12-grid “Dodeka Sudoku” with 12 regions of 4×3 squares. Dell Magazines regularly publishes 16×16 “Number Place Challenger” puzzles (using the numbers 1–16 or the letters A-P). Nikoli offers 25×25 “Sudoku the Giant” behemoths. A 100×100-grid puzzle dubbed Sudoku-zilla was published in 2010.
